Women International Day

International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women for women's economic, political, and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, especially those in the Soviet Block. In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for people to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. However, in some regions, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. Some people celebrate the day by wearing purple ribbons.
In Nigeria women are generally been recognized on or before this day in celebration popularly known as  mothers day. For me, I'll say its a day set aside to celebrate hardworking and energetic women to become a better brand. A popular saying goes as thus: Educate the woman, educate the world. From been a teenager to a lady,they stand as a strong force in the society. But as many and unique as we are, supporting ourselves is something we rarely do. Its disconcerting to know that we don't have a women code(girl code) that also advocates for support of women regardless of social status. Its natural that if we have not yet achieved a certain level,there is tendency to become jealous of the one who has but should we allow it cloud our judgement? Say No to back biting, bullying and other forms of harassment against other women and support them, appreciate their brands, advertise them positively, work together as a team and learn how to tolerate one another. if they make a first class, if they get engaged, get married, have kids, have the most handsome and rich husband, great career, richer lifestyles, just appreciate and support them.
Identifying with successful females should not have ulterior motive like "oh that's my friend,  that's my sister" Not "she doesn't deserve it we all know she didn't get there with pure hard work" May our Understanding be open to support others and appreciate their effort.

Women might never be known as much as they want to if they do not Unite in Love and prioritize the time we spend in bringing other women down in being supportive or encouraging.

Finally, i am saying cheers to all the female folks out there and dedicating this piece to encourage, support and laud women who are already team builders. As to those who are not, it serves as a reminder to be your sister's keeper and Be strong!!!
