If I Were A Poet

If I were a poet

I won't be able to write this
I'd have no inspiration and
Life would be a meaningless clue
The clouds won't whisper words to my eyes
Neither would the bliss of the setting sun induce me

If I were a poet
I would live a life
Books would be philosophical hearings
As news to my ears

If I were a poet
I wouldn't write of love or abstract thoughts
I wouldn't get a thrill from expressions of words
I would be misunderstood totally to a fault

If I were a poet
I'd live a fairy tale reality
Its not that hard
I'd get what I want
Because I'm a poet

If I were a poet
I'd spend long hours
Inhaling the smokes deep
as the ink envelopes my life
I'd be drunk on words
I'm slurping to express
I wouldn't stumble two steps

If I were a poet
Mountain grey would enchant me
As dark art engulfs me
Like mary flame proposes to me
My life time of seeds sown

If I were a poet
Every girl would be naked
Truly showing who they hold within
Strong black women
Or roses wiltering fast

Beauty hides in places
Not just the face
You just need to know what to bloom it out
If I were a poet

And I would because I was a poet

If I were a poet
Stories of war would be energizing
And quite frankly a virtual picture
I would want to write about them
But the words won't add up

But I can write this and I'm a poet
So I'd say I just got spiked
To talk about what you miss when you don't appreciate poetry...

I got away with this
Because I am a POET..!!
as a poet
